The Federal Office for Food Safety (BAES) informs about a further update of the list of invasive alien species: With the Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1422 of the EU Commission, the previously established lists of invasive alien species of Union concern have been extended. A further 8 invasive plant species and 18 invasive animal species have been added to the Union list. In total, the list now includes 114 invasive species, 49 of which are plant species and 65 animal species.
When the Implementing Regulation comes into force on 7 August 2025, categories of goods subject to controls will also be subject to import controls with regard to the new listed invasive species. If invasive species are detected in the course of the controls, the goods may not be imported into the territory of the Union. Further information on import controls for listed invasive species can be found here.
The Implementing Regulation (EU) 2022/1203 in the consolidated version and the amended Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1422 are therefore applicable.
