The Seeds Act is set forth to secure the quality of seeds placed on the market through taking official measures.

In Austria, the placing on the market of propagating material of fruit plants intended for fruit production such as listed in Annex I to Council Directive 2008/90/EC (genera and species as well as their hybrids) is regulated by the Planting Material Act 1997 [LINK] (in German only), as amended, as well as the Planting Material Regulation 1997 [LINK] (in German only), as amended.
