Business register for plant protection products

Legislative framework

As of 14 June 2011, the Plant Protection Product Chemicals Act 2011 (Federal Law Gazette (BGBl.) I No 10/2011) came into force.

Those who have already exercised an activity in accordance with Section 3 (1) before 14 June 2011 are to comply with the requirements of Section 4 (1) within six months of that date.

Anyone who intends to exercise an activity pursuant to Section 3 (1) of this Federal Law or any other operations in connection with the placing of plant protection products on the market has to announce this to the Federal Office for Food Safety. Pursuant to Section 4 (1) this has to be done in writing prior to starting work as well as include their location or office for the purposes of an entry into the Federal Office for Food Safety registry. The announcement must also include all warehouse and delivery points. A registration fee will apply.

The activities in accordance with Section 3 (1) shall in particular include the supply for the purpose of sale within the Community, including offering for sale or any other form of transfer, whether free of charge or not, and the sale, distribution, and other forms of transfer themselves, but not the return to the previous seller.

Important! After completely filling in the Web form and clicking the "send/print" button, the form must additionally be printed, signed by hand (including company stamp) and submitted to the Federal Office for Food Safety, Department of Plant Protection Products, c/o Austrian Agency for Health and Food Safety, Spargelfeldstraße 191, A-1220 Vienna.

Important! A "data change to an existing submission" or a "submission regarding the termination of the placing of plant protection products on the market" is to be made via Web form, then has to be printed out, signed by hand (including company stamp) and sent to the above address. For the aforementioned submissions, the individually assigned submission number must be used for all correspondence in the respective matter.

Attention! Changes to the Plant Protection Products Regulation 2011

Changes to the Plant Protection Products Regulation 2011: Section 1 (8) as amended by Federal Law Gazette II No 198/2013 – and thus prohibiting the sale of plant protection products in food retailing and self-service retail – came into force on 1 January 2014. If this provision applies to you, please use the Web form "Notification of the termination of the placing of plant protection products on the market", print it out and send the signed form (including company stamp) to the Federal Office for Food Safety, Department for Plant Protection Products, c/o Austrian Agency for Health and Food Safety, Spargelfeldstraße 191, A-1220 Vienna.
